Members of Iniciativa Comunitaria Cidreña met with the Federal Monitor for the Sustainable Reform of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau.
On Thursday, June 10, 2021 members of Iniciativa Comunitaria Cidreña met with the Federal Monitor and his team to discuss their initiatives on behalf of the community of Cidra, Puerto Rico. The group, instituted in 2016, and incorporated under the name of UBUNTUINC, has been dedicated to the community of Cidra, Puerto Rico through their alliance.
Comprised of Mr. Jorge Roque, retired from the Puerto Rico Police Department (PRPD); Mr. Jorge Luis Velázquez, president of Beatriz Zapera Community Safety Council; Ms. Delsa Dávila, secretary, and representative of Rabanal, Almirante’s community in Cidra, Puerto Rico, and Agent Norton Hernández, assigned to the PRPD’s Community Relations Bureau, the group is committed to addressing quality of life issues, educating the community on safety concerns, and assisting in crime prevention.
The Alliance reported that initiatives such as a safety and health fair, held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at the Francisco M. Zeno public square, in Cidra, Puerto Rico, benefitted more than 434 members of the community.
During the meeting with the Federal Monitor, the Alliance reiterated its interest in continuing its work with the community and the PRPD in a much more active and participatory role as well as developing, strengthening, and formalizing alliances with the PRPD for the benefit of the community.

Spokespersons or the Community Interaction Councils meet with the Federal Monitor for the Sustainable Reform of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau.
On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, the spokespersons for the Community Interaction Councils, met Federal Monitor John Romero, upon invitation from the Community Interaction and Public Information Technical Compliance Advisor to discuss concerns, exchange information and explore roadblocks to fulfill the responsibilities between them and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau. Spokespersons representatives from the Police areas of Fajardo, Utuado, Carolina, Central Committee, Humacao, Bayamón, Aibonito, Ponce y Mayagüez were present.
The group reiterated their commitment and interest in promoting dialogue, collaboration and active participation for the effective implementation of the Reform. This is a group of volunteers, all professionals in their respective field of work, who are also great resource for the Puerto Rico Police in the development of their formal alliances, in compliance with the Reform.
